Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding CBD
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil or tincture is made by mixing a CBD extract from a cannabis plant into a base like alcohol or hemp seed oil. Taken orally, CBD oil is most effective when held under the tongue where it can be absorbed into the bloodstream (versus slower absorption via the stomach using capsules or edible products).

What is the difference between CBD and hemp oil?
Hemp seed oil and CBD oil derive from different parts of the cannabis plant. CBD oil is extracted from the flowers, leaves and stems while help seed oil is extracted from the seeds. Products containing hemp seed and CBD oils typically cause a high as levels of THC are low or non-existent.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?
CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are both derived from the cannabis plant, but unlike THC, which has psychoactive properties, CBD does not induce a body high or drowsiness. Instead, when extracted separately from THC, CBD increases energy, reduces stress, and alleviates pain.

Is CBD legal?
In December 2018, the federal government officially legalized help and all help-derived products, including CBD.
How long does CBD stay in your system?
For most people, CBD stays in the system for 2 to 5 days. However, some people may retain CBD in their system for weeks depending on how much you use, how often you use it, your diet, and your weight.
Will I fail a drug test after using CBD?
Because drug tests screen for THC, products made with pure CBD isolate will not cause you to fail a drug test.

Using CBD
How can I take CBD?
CBD can be ingested (i.e., edibles and capsules), sublingually (i.e., tinctures or oils placed under the tongue), topically (i.e., oils, creams, or other products applied directly to the skin), or by inhalation (i.e., vaping). All of these methods are effective; however, sublingual use provides the fastest absorption.

How often can I use CBD?
If you are using CBD for general health and wellness, one dose per day along with other vitamins is typically sufficient. However, if you are treating specific health concerns, you may increase your dosage to 2-3 times per day as needed.
How long does it take CBD to work?
Most users report feeling effects of CBD within 20-30 minutes. Effects typically last 4-6 hours.

CBD Safety
Do CBD products contain THC? Will they make me high?
There are three kinds of cannabis oil: full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate. Full spectrum contains all terpenes and cannabinoids including THC; broad spectrum retains as many cannabinoids as possible except for THC; and isolate is extracted from the hemp seed and contains zero THC. All Blue Mist CBD products are made with pure CBD isolate and are THC-free.

What does CBD feel like?
Many users of CBD report feeling increased calm, relaxation, and humor, but no disorientation, forgetfulness, dizziness, or increased appetite typically associated with cannabis.
Will CBD make me drowsy?
CBD does not make you drowsy or sleepy. However, it is effective for sleep orders because of the calming effect it has on the mind.
Does CBD have side effects?
Side effects from CBD are very rare. The most commonly reported side effects include tiredness or fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, changes in appetite or weight, dry mouth, and low blood pressure. Side effects can depend on the amount of CBD you ingest, your age and weight, health conditions you may have, medication you may be taking, or environmental concerns. If you experience side effects or are taking prescribed medications, consult your physician.

Can I overdose from using too much CBD?
Even if you take more than the recommended dose of CBD, the side effects are mild (e.g., drowsiness, diarrhea, and nausea) and there are no reports of death caused by CBD ‘overdose.’

Will CBD interact with my medications?
If you are taking prescribed medications, always consult your physician before taking CBD products to ensure there are no interactions or adverse reactions.

Is it safe to give CBD to my pets?
All research shows that CBD is safe for pets; there have been no reports of psychoactive effects, overdose, or addiction. However, CBD products made with ingredients that usually make pets ill (e.g., chocolate) should be avoided.

Is it safe to use CBD if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
The FDA strongly advises against using CBD, THC, or any form of cannabis during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
